" Technology has become the driving force of change in the modern world. It has altered our economic structures and the ways we communicate. Technology - even in small amounts - is helping communities overcome convention and tradition to take leaps forward."

~ World Bank/Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
Virtual Villages: Technology and the Developing World.

CNTC recognizes that access to information holds the key to changing our world. The purpose of our donation program is to provide people in our community with the technology tools, training and resources to enable them to realize their greatest potential. Together, we can improve the standard of living among individuals and organizations, reduce unemployment, and foster technological growth in the Charleston and Summerville areas.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, nearly 250 million computers will become obsolete in the next five years. In 2001, only 11 percent of personal computers retired in the U.S. were recycled. Each computer dumped in a landfill is a missed opportunity to provide Information Age tools to people across the digital divide.

Not only will your donation help our community, it will help our world. Out-of-date equipment can be recycled and refurbished properly instead of thrown away. By dontating to CNTC, you can help us distribute equipment to the community and help bridge the technological gap.
